How much do I need for a down payment to buy a home?
It depends on the loan. VA and USDA loans can be 0% down, FHA is as little as 3.5%, and many conventional loans accept 3–5% down. We match you to the lowest-down-payment program you qualify for.
What credit score do I need to buy a home?
Many programs start around 580–620, and some go lower with compensating factors. A higher score earns a better rate — and we can often point out quick ways to improve your score before you apply.
How long does it take to close on a home?
Most purchase loans close in 30–45 days from a ratified contract. Getting pre-approved first makes your offer stronger and the process faster.
Should I get pre-approved before house hunting?
Yes. A pre-approval shows sellers you're serious, tells you your real budget, and speeds up closing. It's free and takes only a few minutes to start.
What's the difference between FHA, conventional, and VA loans?
FHA allows low down payments and lower credit scores but requires mortgage insurance. Conventional loans can avoid mortgage insurance at 20% down. VA loans (for eligible veterans and service members) offer 0% down and no PMI. We'll help you compare.
